What are Matchstick Shades?

Matchstick shades or blinds are more commonly known as bamboo shades or woven wood shades or blinds. These are exactly what they sound like, shades woven with wood or grasses, most commonly bamboo, to create a tropical, island feel within a home. Most parents aren't aware that something as simple as dangling cords from blinds, shades or window treatments can pose a hazard to their child's life. Pets are also at risk of strangulation. The problem is, kids and pets can get their necks caught in these cords or blinds and severe damage or death can result. There are organizations working to spread awareness, however, we feel you can never put out enough information on a topic like this.
